Castello di Corbara 2002 Lago di Corbara (Umbria) – 50% sangiovese, 25% each cabernet sauvignon and merlot. As boringly competent as so many of these wines are, with the sangiovese only able to add the slightest touch of bright fruit to the cab/merlot structural elements. It tastes fine, but it’s just so anonymous. Again, as so many other times, I have to ask: what’s the point? (11/07)
